Review 12/22/2007

I purchased a Solo pet door in 2006. We ordered a new door to our backyard, and had a qualified contractor install the pet door. Soon after, we began to have problems. While the door is constructed well, the mechanism that controls the automatic door will not function properly.
The door opens and closes numerous times within one minute without any activation from the supplied dog collar magnets. At times, the door will open repeatedly every 12 seconds.
There is a sensitivity setting ( high to low) that we have set to every possible position. The lowest setting does not make much of a difference than the highest setting on the device. We have left it at the lowest possible level for over six months.
I have called Solo Pet Door numerous times by phone, only to get the following advice, "turn the sensitivity down". I have written numerous emails to the owner of the company over the last two months.
He responded that I should "turn the sensitivity down", even though I have fully explained the circumstances.
One month ago, he asked for the model i.d., and I was hopeful that he was finally going to respond to our problem. I didn't hear from him, and again sent another email asking for help.
His response was two fold; what is the model i.d., and "turn the sensitivity down".
Can you help get his attention to this matter? It is freezing weather in our area for a good period of time, and we lose heat every time we leave the house and have to turn the Solo door on.
As I mentioned to the owner in an email, we do not want to return it, as our back door has a large hole in it to accommodate this door. All we want is to have it repaired.
