Review 3/31/2008
|
Riverside Medical Clinic has some of the best doctors in town. We have been well pleased with the treatment we have received from their doctors. However, their Billing Department has the track record of most hospitals, they make quite a few mistakes.
I just received my latest statement from them today on March 31, 2008. My wife had visited the doctor on March 11, 2008. The bill was $100.00 and we paid the bill with our debit card. The statement we received today reflected that we owed RMC $100.00 for my wife's visit on 3/11/2008.
I called RMC and told them I had the receipt in hand for the payment. The business office told me they were still working on their "billing system" and promptly credited our account. How long does it take to correct a billing system from a company that has been in business since 1935?
The lady said that sometimes the payments they receive aren't recorded before the statements are mailed. They received my money on 3/11/08 yet it had not been recorded when they sent out the statements on 3/31/08. Again I ask, how long does it take a billing system to record that I had paid them over twenty days ago?
In additon, on the same statement is a bill for $112.00 for my "hospital discarge" on 8/31/2007. This bill was paid last year and as I had met my deductible would owe no further charges. This time, the billing department gave me a lot of double talk stating that I didn't owe the $112.00 but $163.50 instead. They stated that maybe I hadn't met my deductible which is incorrect. I had already met my insurance deductible as of that date. On the same statement I was billed for my last visit to the doctor on 2/8/08. There was no indication that my insurance had been billed yet. The code for the bill stated that I was a new patient. I have been a patient of RMC for over ten years now. As soon as my next insurance statement comes in I am sure it will reflect that insurance did indeed pay RMC and that they are double billing me for that visit on 2/8/08
This is not the first time that RMC has double billed us for services. I strongly suggest that every other patient of RMC should double check their statements. Maybe double billing is how RMC is partly paying for their new muti-billion clinic in Riverside.
