Review 2/25/2009

My wife and I picked Powers Painting out of the BBB ratings. I have no idea why they are carrying an "F" rating given that no reviews have been submitted - I guess painters have earned a spotty reputation. So this is the first review for them. Our involvement with Powers Painting started out having them paint the outside of our rental property (former residence). He also efficiently refurbished the outside and replaced the patio cover and found/fixed roofing problems the roofers had left behind. He worked/communicated/charged honestly, did superb work, cleaned up thoroughly every day, and we feel lucky we found him - especially just relying on the BBB site and no personal references. When our longtime tenant moved out we tapped Gary to be the "general contractor/coordinator" for a much-needed total interior refurbishment/upgrade. "Total" included partially removing a wall, stripping the ceilings, removing every electrical and plumbing fixture, replacing the doors/jams, removing/replacing all flooring, replacing the fireplace, complete kitchen and bath makeovers (Home Depot installed the kitchen cabinets/countertops and we used a separate tile person, carpet installer, plumber, shower door installers, and electrician - but Gary did a lot of the plumbing fixture, pullman installs, and electrical work and served as the glue organizing all the other contributers) and of course painting everything. Gary did not 'nickel and dime' us in performing his work - e.g., when he started out using the wrong color scheme, he repainted without extra charge. There's not much he can't either handle himself or coordinate and, for the price, you probably can't find a better, more trustworthy company. We continue having Gary perform the regular monthly maintenance visits since we know this will be a sound investment. We're now ready to rent a gorgeous home.
