I contacted The Party Factory a.k.a. Party Planners, USA in reference to my daughters sweet 16. Upon an initial meeting with the owner, Laurie Camacho, we hired her to help with the planning of the party, and paid an initial deposit. There was no mention in the contract that we were bound to any financial obligation beyond the initial deposit, without a written addendum agreed to by all, of which there were none. After a month it became obvious that Laurie's vision (BUDGET) was not the same as our own, so I told her in a nicely worded email we would no longer be using her services. Laurie immediately sent me a scathing email accusing me of attempting to steal her ideas, and threatening to sue me if I did not continue to use her service or pay her more than the original deposit/agreement. Her unprofessional actions did not stop there. She then went on to write a defamatory letter about myself and my underage daughter to a vendor she had referred us to, threatening them as well. She has refused to return my phone calls to discuss the matter, even though she asked in her email that I do so. Just to clarify, we were under NO OBLIGATION to continue to use her services, and we were NOT attempting to "steal" any of her overpriced ideas ($12-17,000 for LIGHTING). I would NOT recommend Laurie, or any of her companies that have to do with any type of party planning. The way Laurie handled this situation was so unbecoming and embarrassing. Not behavior you would expect from a professional.
