I was cold called by William Ward of Merchant Services, Irvine, CA. He implied that his call was required by the State of California to review Credit Card accounts for overcharges and possible refunds. It took considerable effort to find out his Last Name, Company Name and address, but he did provide them. On further disscussion, he repeatly stated that this was not a sales call, but an account manager would come by to review my statements. This is a big RED FLAG to me, especially since he got "offended" at my repeated requests for clarification that this was or was not a sales call. While on the phone with him for the 2nd time, I was also on the wedsite, which clearly shows that it is the intention to gain my CC business. I would warn against dealing with this company to anyone who values honest communication. Mr. Ward became louder as his temper flared....I hung up.
After seeing to following post FROM MERCHANT SERVICES, I am glad I did:
"Mr. Krystek's primary method of visiting businesses are leads generated by our in-house Telemarketing team. The appointment is set by a telemarketer and the Account Executive then visits the business based on the lead generated. Mr. Krystek also solicits "door-to-door" and a review of his business card and the sales presentation documentation discloses the relationship we have with FirstData."
A sales call by any other name is deceptive!
