Review 7/19/2011
|
This would surely be the first negative
review, we have ever written about any person
or business. But we cannot let a business
intimidate us and fleece us.
We rented an apartment at the Mercer in 2010
and moved out in 2011 after the one year
lease, a very unhappy tenant. The problems
did not only affect us while we lived there
but followed us way after.
The roach problems started soon after we
moved in, then the dishwasher hardly ever worked,
The blinds started falling everywhere.
The next door apartment burnt down and the
smell was unbearable for a long time.
All this was topped by unfriendly,
unreachable management staff.
However, after our tenure was over, we were
happy to move out and be rid of that
unpleasantness, but soon after we realized,
they would not only keep our deposit but also
ask for a lot more for what they claimed to
be as damage to carpet and walls. Ridiculous!
We have no small kids, no pets. We all worked
full time, even our 11 year old stayed in
after school program until 5 pm. We were
hardly home to be destroying the carpets and
darting the walls!
The truth is, the carpet being light in color
had the normal dirt, esp at the door, where we
removed our shoes before going into the
rooms. The walls were clean and had no scrapes
or holes whatsoever. I think, we could
describe all this as nothing but'normal wear
and tear'arising from living there for an year.
Also, at the time of signing the lease
agreement, even though,it might have been in
the fine print, we were never told about the
add on utility charges, per person, which
increased our rent by $50 to $100 per month.
Why would they not mention these charges to
us when we were discussing everything else?
We are really disappointed by these practices
and therefore warn other people before they
sign any lease with them. Wish, we had read
someone else's reviews before we moved in. We
will take it as an educational experience and
move on but if we have to fight it out with
them,so be it!
