Review 10/20/2011
|
I have been a member of LA Fitness since October, 2010. I frequent the Huntingdon Valley location. The gym is dirty, especially the restrooms and the pool area, and the equipment is outdated (please see attached pictures). The vents are covered with dust and there are water stains on the ceiling tiles. This is definitely a health hazard. The cardio machines, particularly the elliptical, are rusted and often out of order. The paper towels are often empty so people don't wipe down the machines when they are done. Overall, the facility needs a total renovation. If the Board of Health came in to check the facility, they would most likely close this location.
If you charge over $30 per month per member, there better be state of the art equipment in this so-call “State of the Art” facility. Needless to say, I am quite frustrated and the statement below that you post on your website is a poor representation of the La Fitness that I know. This is false advertising.
“When you enter an LA Fitness, you know what to expect. The state of the art facility and equipment are familiar and comfortable, but what we are most proud of are the people who are there to serve you. The people who warmly greet you, expertly train you, enthusiastically teach you. lt is the entire team, our best resource, who is dedicated to making your fitness experience an exceptional one.”
I expected a much higher level of service from your company, and I am quite disappointed. I find myself complaining everyday to the front staff but my concerns are ignored. I go to the gym to relieve stress but instead leave irritated and do not enjoy my workout. Because I do not want to spend any more time on this problem, I have cancelled my membership and plan to join another gym that offers a comfortable and clean environment, new and fully functional workout equipment, and a friendly and knowledgeable staff. If LA Fitness doesn’t start investing the time and energy into these franchises, I highly doubt they will continue to surpass their competitors.
In addition to cancelling my membership, I sent a letter to corporate with pictures of the facility to further exemplify my complaints, and I submitted a formal complaint through BBB. I received a call yesterday from some "Operations Manager" in Georgia. He was no help at all. He has no idea that I sent a letter to corporate and claims he is unable to discuss the matter with corporate. If I complained through the BBB to corporate office, why am I getting a call from rep in Georgia? Corporate office is in California. Overall, LA Fitness consists of very unprofessional and unwilling to help individuals. I don't want an apology from LA. I want them to fix the gym and refund my $390 I wasted over the last 12 months. I will never re-activate a membership with LA Fitness and will continue to have my friends and family members cancel their memberships. No referrals will come from me ever again!
