Pay No Attention To The Little Man Behind The Curtain
|
I have no real issue with marketing companies working on behalf of law firms. They can do an excellent job explaining the benefits of good representation and describing the strengths of their clients. What burns me is when shysters like Wise Law Group chase ambulances using late night TV. What they don't explain *wink* *wink* is that they're not concerned much with whether you really took Yaz or Zoloft or anything else. The point is just to assemble a critical mass of complainants so that the defense can eliminate the whole group. What's worse, from the standpoint of both those looking to take advantage of a loose system, and those who have been truly harmed (like me), is that when the settlement finally occurs (and most of these cases settle) the lawyers get the lion's share of the money. By the time they've been compensated for their marketing expenses, out-of-pocket expenses, court costs and hourly rate expenses (typically far greater than the wages earned by the people they represent)and taken their 30-40% share of the remaining proceeds the clients themselves often wind up with pennies on the dollar. All things considered, the rest of us would probably be better off without the ilawsuit.coms of the world.
