I replied to an ad on Craigslist.org (Austin) for more information on a home for rent. The rep said to view the listing and search for others, I had to pay $19.95 for a 10 day trial. She explained that the homeowners listed their homes with low/actual mortgage payments for their personal relief (most owners had other mortgages they are paying) and with the bad housing market, they were willing to rent their homes for "cheap" rather than no rent. As soon as I paid and started the home search, there were no rental prices for any homes, only prices for home sales. I located all the homes I looked at on free home search sites where I discovered that all the homes on Home Star Search were foreclosures. Sales rep, Skyler # 8781 did not explain any of this. She did say that (I) would work out all the rental technicalities with the homeowner, which I completely did not understand but she already had my credit card information. How can you rent a forclosure? It seems like a surefire way to move into a place just to be forcibly evicted soon after. There may be a legitimate way to do business like this but, I don't know how and nothing was clearly explained to me before or after I paid the $19.95 trial fee. Bottom Line: SCAM
