I brought a guest in the gym last week. He is vacationing for 6 weeks from Australia and would like to see the gym and get a membership for a month. I gave him a 7 day pass and left him talking to the front desk staff while I went to attend a Step class. Mickey (guy with a Mohawk) talked to him and after knowing that he is from Australia, he dismissed him right away, took his 7 day pass without giving him a proper tour. He did not even tell him he could join a month to month membership which is what my friend is up to. My friend was shocked with this abrupt rejection and total discrimination. He requested for a tour but Mickey just led him through the entrance door and immediately led him back to the exit door, and told him, “Oh I cannot let you in because my boss is watching me!!” I don’t know what was the deal with that stupid remark!! My friend was in total shock and was speechless with this unacceptable treatment. He asked if he can wait outside the Step classroom as I was inside the class and not aware of what was going on. He drove him away and said he is only allowed to wait outside where the front desk is.
This was totally unprofessional, inappropriate, discriminating and unacceptable behavior. My friend went to Bally instead and was treated nicely. I can’t wait to finish my contract and be done with this gym. I am not surprise that this branch has an F grade in BBB.
This is not totally the way to deal with clients. Even if he is not a local resident and cannot use the promo pass. They should have explained it properly to him. This foreigner went to the gym to check it out and enroll but treated like trash and just a time waster. What a shame I brought a friend here!
