I am an administrator for an individual. I received a letter from Rumson Bolling stating that the individual I work for had a debt that had been turned over to them to collect. I spoke to the individual I work for to get clear on the particulars of the debt. I wrote a letter and mailed it registered mail disputing the debt amount - which is stated in Rumson Bolling's letter approximately $3,000 above the actual $750 owed. David Stuart @ Rumson was "very abusive" on the phone, promised to fax me a copy of the invoice they have on file with the breakdown of the $3,000 amount, and a copy of the potential settlement letter. He sent neither. A second call the same day resulted in me speaking with a woman, unidentified, who was more abusive than David, who promised to fax the same things, and did not. Today, one of our office personnel received a very abusive phone message on their voicemail, containing both profanity - and outright threats! I am writing a letter to Rumson Bolling now in which I am requesting that they immediately stop the "abusive tactics," and move to a kinder, more effective work practice and tactic. David Stuart, and other bill collectors at Rumson Bolling - please know that the tactics you are using are highly abusive, "barred by law" - and more importantly, for you personally - probably raising your blood pressure, and setting you up for early coronary disease. Can you really go home to your families and be a kind person when you spend day after day choosing to express such unkind and unhealthy behavior? Collections are a legitimate business. Please act as if you are legitimate; perpetuating forms of violence and abuse on voicemail and over the phone makes you and the company you work for - highly illegitimate!
