Terrible mechanics, also very rude. Before I took my car into Foreign Motor Service I had a smog check done on it. It passed everything except the check engine light malfunctioned. I then took it to Foreign Motor Service to have that fixed along with an oil leak. Once I got my car back I then took it back to the same smog check center. What happened next was infuriating. The smog failed by drastic proportions. The emissions were so over the top it was unbelievable.
When I first took th car in for smog the results for HC(PPM) was 72 over a max of 89, for CO% it was .10 over a max of .53, and for NO(PPM) it was 708 over a max of 708(close call but still passed).
After I had work done at Foreign Motor Service the HC(PPM) was at 170 over 89 max, the CO% was .62 over .53, and the NO(PPM) was at a staggering 2424 over 708!
To top it off, they didn't even fix the oil leak! When I took it back to have them correct it they gave the typical mechanic that doesn't know what they're doing response, "It needs a new catalyct converter. That will cost you $250." I was so furious I just stormed out of there. Not only did they destroy the emissions on my car, but they wanted to charge me to fix it!
So I called around to see if that was the real prolbem. After taking it to a muffler shop, the boss simply looked at my smog check papers and told me right off the bat that a catalyct converter would not fix such high emissions. Also having looked around at other mechanics to see how much a catalyct converter would run, they all would have charged by $125 and lower for it.
Stay away from Foreign Motor Service, they are incompetent, overpriced, and just plain rude.
