I am currently studying at the Academy of Couture Art for my Bachelors of Science Degree in Pattern Design. Prior to attending ACA, I graduated from FIDM with an AA in Fashion Design, as well as worked in the industry for a little over a year as a Technical Designer. I saw what it took to make a garment fit right. Tons of fittings and samples back in forth from one side of the world to the other. My mind was blown when I learned ACA's French couture techniques! On my first day of class, I was able to create my first pattern and the first sample sewn fit PERFECT. I didn't even know that was possible! By the beginning of my 3rd quarter, I had the knowledge and techniques to create 2 custom made wedding gowns in a time span of 3 months!
The French techniques taught at ACA are priceless and make a world of a difference compared to the American way of pattern drafting. ACA teaches Pattern DESIGN, as opposed to all the other schools I've visited and attended which teach the basics of pattern drafting within a fashion design program. This school is also the only school in the west coast, as of now, that offers a Pattern Design Degree and has a 4 year program for pattern design enthusiasts!
The Academy of Couture Art is a very professional institution and school who I will recommend to any artist with aspirations to be a fashion designer or pattern designer in the high end world of couture. You are destined to succeed here!
